For Fire/Rescue Service Only! When conducting rescue operations, time is of the essence. First responders must act immediately to find and remove occupants who are trapped. Breaking into dangerous spaces, providing additional ventilation, or assisting with Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT) operations requires a specialized, dependable saw. When STIHL set out to design a chain saw specifically for fire and rescue personnel, they only had to look as far as their own back yard – to the Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) for professional input. Highly respected throughout the country, the VBFD has been actively involved throughout the design of the MS 460 Magnum "RESCUE" chain saw. "We were pleased to be involved in the development process, providing input and prototype testing of this ‘Rescue' (chain) saw," stated Gary Umphlett, master firefighter, VBFD. Fire Chief Gregory B. Cade, VBFD, added, "We welcomed the opportunity to contribute the knowledge of our team in the development of a chain saw designed specifically for Fire and Rescue services work."
